Patio furniture can be a welcome addition to any outdoor space. Ample, comfortable seating extends living space and offers a nice place to relax – but, like most things, can come with a hefty price tag. We’ve got a few tips to keep costs down when purchasing or re-vamping outdoor furniture.
Shop at the end of the season. At the end of July and August, many places are getting rid of inventory and prices fall considerably.
Choose less expensive materials. Aluminum and resin cost less than high-end wood, and can be easier to maintain.
Check out yard sales or thrift stores. You may be able to find a high-quality furniture set that only needs a good cleaning and new cushions.
Paint an old set and/or recover your existing cushions. You’d be surprised at how easy and affordable it is – and how just a few touch-ups can make your old stuff look brand new.
DIY. Pallet furniture is all the rage, as is using old crates and tires to make simple, durable tables. The key is to use materials you already have, or that you can get for very cheap.
